How-to-guides for installing car security
|
Starting the Installation
of your car security system |
|
Mounting the Flashing LED
Most security
systems come with a small read flashing light, called an LED) Light
Emitting Diode), that mounts in your dash rear view mirror and or
center console.
|
|
Mount
the LED in an area that is highly visible from both sides of
the vehicles.
The optimal place to
install the flashing
LED is on the top center of the dash.
Not all vehicles
will have ample room to place the LED, as some vehicles are
easier than others to remove the top panel of the dash.
|
Another
recommended place to install the LED light is in a switch dummy plate.
These are knockout plates that typically
located the on the
dash and are designed for vehicles that have all the bells and
whistles.
If your
vehicle does not have all the bells and whistles there may
be extra blank plates
that can be removed and easily accessible to install a
light. word of caution, make sure the hole that you drill
is the correct size for the light.
Drilling a hole two big
will cause the light not to fit firmly, Check the
hole-size requirement before drilling.
Inspect the area
behind the mounting surface to make sure there is sufficient
clearance and a path for the wire.
|
Hole to big?
If you
invariantly drill the hole for the placement of the LED, you
may use the "wire tie method to hold the LED mount in place.
Simply place the
LED housing through the oversized hole, then
wrap a
4inch wire tie to the bake side of the dash panel or knock
out plat to adhere the LED
to the panel.
