Remote entry

( Power door lock/unlock )

This convenient feature will unlock or lock vehicles doors when arming or disarming your security system. This chapter will discuss everything you need to know to safely  integrate your new security system to the vehicles locking circuit.

Door lock unlock

The door lock unlock feature is a great feature found on most of the eagle securities systems. its purpose is to lock or unlock the vehicles doors , based upon the security systems state. this a feature will unlock vehicles doors when the disarm button is activated on the remote and lock the doors when the alarm is armed via the remote.

It is important to understand the many different wiring configurations and applications available on most import and domestic vehicles, before tapping into any vehicles door lock system ( see relay configurations ).

Types of door lock systems

Many vehicles will require only a negative or positive pulse to activate vehicles door lock system. Others such as Ford products utilize a reverse polarity system which creates a little more complex wiring for the "newbie" installer.

There are several types of wiring types used to unlocks the vehicles door.

  • Negative pulse

  • Positive pulse

  • Reverse polarity

  • Data bus (single wire)

That's nice...But what type do I have?

You can verify the type of system used by using a digital test light (for safety to the cars electronics) or a voltage meter.

You should begin by locating the wire that sends the specific voltage and while unlocking the vehicles doors and locking them you will want to look for the change on your test light.

In most cases you can find the harness to the door locks at the driver kick panel, witch is basically the panel that your left foot "hang" around when driving. Most vehicle kick panels will snap off or will have a screw or two holding it in place. Remove the kick panel to reveal the harness that goes from the vehicle through the door jamb and into the door. Usually you will find the culprit at this harness.

Most vehicle manufactures now more than ever are using a single wire "data bus" system that sends a signal to the vehicles door lock system to activate the door lock, unlock feature.
