How-to-guides for installing car security

Installation
help, for installing, wiring and troubleshooting car
security systems. |

Introduction
continued
As we discussed on page 1 it
is important to properly prepare before starting on the
installation of your remote entry or security system to
provide the best protection and performance.
Were just about ready to
start.... so hold on tight!

Be prepared
Tips and tricks:
1. Remove the doom
light fuse from the vehicles fuse box, as many vehicles will have
several lights throughout the vehicle and can drain the battery if
left on for an extended period of time
|
NOTE:
If you
remove the doom light fuse remember (when testing) the remote entry
or security system that you may loose power to another function of
the remote entry or security system. So remember to replace the doom
light fuss during testing of the system.
2. Roll down
at least one window. When working on the door lock and unlock
portion of the installation, it is easy to lock the keys in the
vehicle during testing.
3. You
should decide where you are going to place all "peripheral"
components,
such as the siren, flashing
LED, shock sensor, pin switches, etc. We discuss the peripheral location for each component in the
corresponding chapters in this lesson.
4. Be sure
to have all parts needed to complete the install of the system
before starting, as it will make it more tempting to take short cuts during
the processes. The parts required are discussed in parts required for
instillation.

Where do I start
1. Start by identifying where you will install the security systems
brain or control module. This is the small box that all wires will
terminate to and all alarm features are processed.
2. Determine weather you will use the siren or vehicles horn for
your sounding device. and determine where you will install the siren
if you decide to use a siren.
Run all wires to all sensors, pin switches, shock sensors, e.t.c.
Connect the park light wire from the security system brain to the
park light activation wire. See: connecting the park light
activation wire.
Determine the location and install the L.E.D alarm status indicator.
See: Installing the L.E.D.
Locate and wire vehicle door lock circuit from the door lock wires
to the security systems brain. See: Connecting
-
Take
your time and verify that each segment of the system
works as intended before going forward.
-
Don’t
drive your vehicle until you’ve secured any loose
wiring.
-
Carefully
inspect engine compartment and other places for any components or
tool left behind. Leaving a tool under the hood and
closing it can can destroy a vehicles hood or force it out of
alignment.
