C
Capacitance - The property of storing an
electrical charge between two separate
conductors.
Capacitor - A device that builds and
holds electrical charges.
Capture Ratio - A measure of the ability
of a frequency.
Chassis - The metal frame of the
vehicle.
Circuit - Closed path followed by
electrical current.
Circuit Breaker - A device that protects
electric circuits by interrupting power in a
circuit when an overload occurs, rated in
amps.
Clipping - Audible distortion that
occurs when continuous power-to-peak
capabilities are exceeded.
Closed Circuit - Current can flow
without interruption.
Coaxial - A speaker composed of a larger
cone for low range frequencies and a smaller
cone for higher frequencies.
Coil
- A crossover component used to filter out
higher frequencies allowing lower
frequencies to pass.
Conduction - The movement of electrons
moving through a wire or other components.
Conductivity - The ability of a
conductor to allow the passage of electrons,
measured in the current per unit of voltage.
Cone
- The most common shape for radiating
the surface of a loudspeaker.
Constant 12 V (+) - A lead wire that
shows positive 12 volts regardless of
ignition key position.
Continuity - The condition of being
uninterrupted.
Cross Interleave Reed-Solomon Code (CIRC)
- Codes and data that make it possible to
detect errors and correct them in a compact
disc.
Crossover Frequencies - Active or
passive frequencies that divide audio
signals, expressed in Hertz (Hz).
Crossover Network - Audio spectrum
divided into two or more frequency bands,
active and passive.
Crosstalk - Interference caused by
leaking of electromagnetic field when audio
equipment wires are to close to other wires,
bleeding into the audio causing unwanted
noise.
Current - A flow of electricity,
measured in amps. |
