• Back-up Battery – An optional option for  security system where as a separate battery system is added to the  existing power supply to serve as a backup if  the vehicle's battery should be disconnected.

• Balance – A feature that will control the volume output to the left or right speakers to allow the proper volume to balance in the “center” of the listener.

• Bandpass – A filter that cuts both low and high frequencies enabling a band of frequencies between these two points to pass through a given point.

• Bandwidth – A range of frequency response between upper and lower frequencies points in which audio signals pass through an electrical device and where the  audio signal has rolled off by the rate of three decibels.

• Barium Ferrite - A magnet made from alloy with barium and iron plates sandwiched between a magnet  to improve magnetic strength

• Basket - The metal frame of a speaker motor that supports all of it's components.

• Bass - Low audio frequency range produce in an audio output below 500 Hz.

• Bass Reflex System – Typically a vented enclosure that allows control of the rear radiated sound waves of an enclosure.

• Battery - A group of electrically charged cells wired in series that stores an electrical energy. Converts chemical energy to electrical energy.

• BBE Processing - A signal processing circuit that provides imaging and spatial realism by altering the frequency and phase characteristics of a specific part of the input signal.

• Bi-Amplification - The use of multiple amplifiers, to amplify more than one frequency. such as lower bass, treble, midrange and all other  frequencies. Each amplifier is dedicated to each frequency.

• Bias - A high frequency current applied to the tape head along with the audio signal to increase sensitivity and prevent distortion during the recording process.

• BL - The strength of a magnetic force a motor structure possesses. "Or called Tesla meters, this measurement of the motor strength of a speaker.

• Boom - Excessive  bass response or peak of a recording, playback, or audio system.

• Boost - To Increase a specified signal.

• Bottom End - Refers to the sound qualities of the lowest frequency ranges of an audio systems speaker. or also known as bass response.

• Bridging –The processes of electricity combining both outputs of an amplifier to be as one, . This increases the power output (wattage) by 2. If the amplifier is 50 watts per channel bridging will generate 100wats of power..

• BTL - Bridged, Transformer Less. A circuit that contains two Integrated Circuit (IC) amplifier channels  and are bridged together providing a single, larger output circuit.

• BTM - Best Tuning Memory. A feature that selects radio stations by the strength of its signal, and programs them to the  radio stations preset buttons.

• Buffer - This device protects against vibrations by storing the audio information for uninterrupted playback. Data is available from the buffer when it can not be read from the disc as long as the reading the disc does not exceed the playback time of the audio stored in the circuit
