Data bus continued
Now that we know a little bit
more about data bus technology, let's get to the fun stuff.
Making use of the data bus.

Life is good!
While it may seem
more complicated than just sending a positive or negative
voltage to an accessory in your car " like the good old
days", it can however, really make installation of several
products much easier to install.
This is due to the fact
that several functions of a security system for example, can
be accessed from one single wire, as opposed to having to
find each individual wire for that function.
|
Functions such
as:
And more, can be
found on one single wire!
|
The catch
Of
coarse there is one catch.
You will have to have a data bus
converter that can be purchased at your local audio shop or
online.
We use
Flash
logic however, there are several out there that do the
same thing.
In
this example, we are assuming you are installing a security
system.
This devise is an electronic
circuit that incorporates several wires on one side of the
unit to your security system, for connecting the functions you require.
The other side will have a single wire going to your
vehicles "data bus" line.
See
Car
Stereo and Security Wiring Diagrams,
for vehicle specific data bus wiring information, such
as, vehicle data bus line wire color, function and resistor
value.

Worth the extra
cost?
This device is great to have and worth the extra cost,
especially for the newbie installer, as it takes most of the
guess work out of locating and deciphering the who,
what, where and why of locating all the different wires to
each function.
"Anyone who has ever installed an electronic
accessory on an automobile knows all the "fun"
it can be to find and determine wire function
for a specific feature". |
